Wiener Linien standardises ticket offer for season tickets
As of 1 July 2024, Wiener Linien is standardising its range of travel cards. The digital 7-day and 31-day WIEN tickets, which have been available since 2022, will also be available as transferable paper tickets in future and will replace the existing weekly and monthly pass. As part of the standardisation, the price of these tickets will be adjusted slightly.
Since 2012, the 365-euro annual pass has offered the best price for a comprehensive, reliable and growing public transport network. Season tickets, single journeys and tickets for visitors to Vienna round off the offer and provide the right ticket for every need. Wiener Linien is now taking a further step towards improving passenger-friendliness: on 1 July, we will standardise the range of season tickets.
From 1 July 2024: flexible 7 or 31-day WIEN also as transferable paper tickets
The digital 7-day VIENNA and 31-day VIENNA tickets have been available since 2022. In future, these will also be available as transferable paper tickets and will replace the existing weekly and monthly tickets. Passengers can now freely choose the period of validity, as the new tickets are valid for 7 or 31 days from the time they are validated and not for calendar weeks or months.
1-day WIEN, 8-day climate ticket no longer available from 1 July
The flexible 24-hour VIENNA ticket is very popular with passengers and will replace the 1-day VIENNA ticket and the 8-day climate ticket, both of which will no longer be available from 1 July.
Prices for 7 and 31-day VIENNA tickets will rise slightly - last adjustment was in 2018
Wiener Linien stands for sustainable mobility at an unbeatable price. Since 2012, public transport passengers in Vienna have been able to use the entire public transport network for just 1 euro per day with the annual ticket. Although inflation has risen sharply in recent years, the prices of season tickets were last increased in 2018. As part of the standardisation process, Wiener Linien is now slightly adjusting the prices of 7-day and 31-day tickets.
From 1 July, the transferable 7-day WIEN ticket on paper will cost EUR 22.60, while the personalised digital version will cost EUR 19.70 from 1 July. The paper 31-day WIEN Ticket, which will be transferable from 1 July, will cost 58.70 euros. The price of the personalised 31-day VIENNA ticket will remain unchanged at 51.00 euros. The price difference between the transferable and the personalised ticket is due to the possibility of passing the transferable ticket on to other passengers.
The annual ticket is still available for 365.00 euros. The prices for all other tickets (e.g. single tickets and season tickets for 24, 48 and 72 hours) also remain unchanged.
