The Top Youth Ticket can be displayed as an e-ticket directly on your smartphone in the WienMobil app or used as a PDF ticket in printed form. If you have purchased the ticket online, you can simply print it out again, for example if your child loses it.

The Top Youth Ticket is valid in conjunction with the student or apprentice ID card.

Pupils:

  • Valid for pupils up to the age of 24 (= 24th birthday) who receive family allowance and attend a school within the meaning of the Family Allowance Equalisation Act 1967 (FLAG §30f) at least four days a week (excluding vocational school pupils). These are primarily public schools or public schools with public authorisation.
  • Valid for police students in basic training, professional internship I or advanced basic training including service examination (basic police training)
  • Place of residence or school must be in Vienna, Lower Austria or Burgenland.
  • Valid in conjunction with a student ID showing name, place of residence and place of school or a public transport authorisation card for participants in basic police training

Apprentices:

  • Valid for apprentices up to the age of 24 (= 24th birthday) who receive family allowance and require transport at least three days a week.
  • Valid for apprentices who are being trained as part of a legally recognised apprenticeship in Austria.
  • The place of residence, vocational school or place of training must be in Vienna, Lower Austria or Burgenland.
  • Valid in conjunction with an apprentice ID card (WKO) or vocational school ID card with photo or confirmation of apprenticeship/training from the WKO with additional official photo ID

Children up to the age of 6 (i.e. up to and including one day before their 6th birthday) travel free of charge in the Verkehrsverbund Ostregion and do not need a ticket. With Wiener Linien, free travel is also valid until the end of the school year in which the child turns 6. The ÖBB regulations are an exception: Here, the 6th birthday is the cut-off date. Outside Vienna, free transport ends when accompanied by a child who has reached the age of 6.

  • The Top Youth Ticket for the upcoming school year is available from mid-August at our offices and at the ticket machines in the underground stations.
  • You can buy the ticket a little earlier in the WienMobil ticket shop (web and app). This also has the advantage that you can simply print out the ticket again if it gets lost (this is generally only possible for tickets purchased online).
  • At the ÖBB ticket counters and at the ticket machines in the stations
  • If you live in Lower Austria or Burgenland, you can also buy the Top Youth Ticket at post offices and postal partners. More information is available from VOR.

There is no right of cancellation. Cancellation, return and exchange are excluded after purchase.
