Free transport service for people with reduced mobility during construction work

During the construction work at the future U2xU4 Pilgramgasse station, at the future U2xU5 Rathaus station and in Wiedner Hauptstraße, a free transport service is available until further notice for people with reduced mobility and their accompanying persons registered on their disability pass.

Transport service in the area around Pilgramgasse U4 station

A new U2 station is being built below the existing U4 Pilgramgasse station. The construction work on site is very extensive and far-reaching. In order to ensure accessibility around the station during this time, Wiener Linien has joined forces with the Anwaltschaft für Gleichbehandlungsfragen (Ombud for Equal Treatment) to provide an additional service for people with disabilities.

Until further notice, a free transport service is available to people with limited mobility and their accompanying persons registered on their disability pass. The minibus is operated by Wiener Lokalbahnen Verkehrsdienste and is available to passengers seven days a week during U4 operating hours. People who use this service can get from A to B comfortably and barrier-free without having to transfer.

The transport service is on the move for passengers seven days a week during U4 operating hours.

Transport service in the area around Rathaus U2 station

Even though the modernisation of the U2 main line between Karlsplatz and Schottentor has been completed, extensive work is still taking place under the existing U2 line. A new U2xU5 public transport hub will be built at Rathaus by 2030. New underground tunnels and cross-connections are being created between Josefstädter Straße and Universitätsstraße for the future public transport hub - the work is taking place directly next to and under the U2 station.

Until all the work in this area has been completed, the Rathaus U2 station can be reached by lift in the direction of Karlsplatz. The Rathaus U2 station in the direction of Seestadt can be reached via two stairways.

During the construction work, passengers with mobility impairments will have their own shuttle service from Volkstheater to Rathaus and from Rathaus to Schottentor. The minibus is operated by Wiener Lokalbahnen Verkehrsdienste and runs seven days a week. Alternatively, passengers travelling in the direction of Seestadt who need the lift at Rathaus station can continue to Schottentor station. There they can use the central platform, return to the U2 Rathaus station (direction Karlsplatz) and use the lift here.

Alternatively, tram lines D, 1, 2 and 71 are still available to reach destinations in the vicinity of Rathaus by public transport.

Monday to Sunday and public holidays 07:00-19:00 hrs

The shuttle service can be ordered by telephone on +43 664 623 65 98. The maximum pre-booking time is 15 minutes.
